AT&T is issuing a last call for local ed-tech startups to apply for the 2nd annual $1 Million Skills Building Challenge hosted by the AT&T Aspire Accelerator. The deadline to apply is Jan. 27.
The $1 Million Skills Building Challenge aims to locate, support and mentor 8 startups using technology to prepare students for success in the classroom and beyond.
Miami-based Caribu was one of the startups chosen to participate in the 2018 AT&T Aspire Accelerator. Caribu allows any trusted adult to read and draw with children, through an interactive video-call, no matter how far apart they are, and improves lives by creating real-time reading interactions for children to achieve their twenty minutes of reading a day.
Selected applicants will receive $125,000 as part of their participation in the 6-month Accelerator program, where they’ll have access to AT&T’s senior executives and mentoring from leading minds in education and entrepreneurship. Relocation is not required.
New in 2020, the Accelerator program will also allow companies to explore the potential of 5G, and how AT&T’s network could impact their business models and the larger education landscape.
