Altis of Fort Lauderdale, an AI-powered personal trainer, closes $10.5M seed round

Altis, a Fort Lauderdale-based AI-powered personal trainer powered by a “Movement Operating System” that coaches users in real-time based on their live performance, announced it raised $3 million to close a $10.5 million Seed funding round.

Investors include Mike Capps, former head of gaming at Epic Games, Bill Flynn, a former CEO of Amtrak, and  US Olympians JR Celski and Georganne Moline. Refresh Miami reported it raised the first $7.5 million in February. The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth and expand operations.

The company said it finalized agreements with LA Fitness, which operates 740 health clubs, and Life Time Fitness, which operates over 150 health clubs. Earlier this year, Altis announced a partnership with Hyatt, whose portfolio includes over 1,100 properties.

Led by founder and CEO Jeff Halevy, Altis provides an AI personal trainer which, by applying computer vision and deep learning models in consumer and commercial fitness, functions as a capable substitute to a human personal trainer.

Using proprietary computer vision and AI, Altis says it sees, understands, and personally instructs users, delivering an interactive and intelligent fitness experience. From a soundbar-sized console that connects to any screen, Altis creates hyper-personalized fitness programs based on users’ individual capabilities, limitations, and goals.

The use cases for the technology are multiplying, Halevy said.

“Movement OS will not only support democratizing access to quality, personalized exercise instruction – but to virtually any body-related discipline across the human movement spectrum, from post-surgical and rehabilitation to high performance,” Halevy said.
