Speaker Information:
Mr. Basit has over eleven years of experience in intellectual property matters, including both governmental and private practice experience.  For five years, Mr. Basit worked as a patent examiner at the United States Patent & Trademark Office and was involved in the examination of electronic commerce, financial technologies (Fintech), and software-based technologies.   Mr. Basit has six years of experience in private legal practice and has worked on technologies including wireless communications, computer networking systems, virtual reality (VR), cloud computing systems, Fintech, and multimedia systems.
Mr. Kretschmann  is a German patent attorney and works at the Munich office of Boehmert and Boehmert.  Mr. Kretschmann focuses on the development and management of patent portfolios in the areas of physics, optics, electrical engineering, IT, and software. Dennis also has expertise in patent litigation matters. Mr. Kretschmann conducts patent infringement and nullity proceedings before the German courts, and coordinates cross-border infringement cases. In addition, he provides counsel on technology transfer, licensing agreements, and employee invention law.
Mr. Lingle is an accomplished speaker, educator, thought leader, and ExO Works advisor. He is Managing Partner at 10xU, a division of Rokk3r Labs that helps entrepreneurs and corporate executives leverage exponential technologies to build high-growth companies. Mike recently participated in creating CitiMoov, the winning idea for the Miami Mobility Fastrack, and is working to dramatically reduce traffic using gamification and machine learning—without building any new roads or rail lines.
Mr. Plenby has over 15 years of successful experience in leadership positions in Fortune 1000 companies such as Target Corporation, Arthur Andersen and Eastman Kodak, technology start-up organizations and the Commercial Section of the British Consulate. Mr. Plenby has cross-functional knowledge across value-chain in technology, consumer, retail and manufacturing companies. Mr. Plenby has been a speaker at various events, such as global business forums, local chambers of commerce and big-four accounting firm webinars. Mr. Plenby is a steering committee member for various technology organizations and cultural non-profits. Mr. Plenby has a BA from Clark University.
Mr. Cathey is founder and Chief Experience Designer at Capitol Interactive, where he has created VR, AR, and 360 experiences for Discovery Communications, US Postal Service, and AARP. He has lectured for numerous events and organizations, including UMBC and the US State Department, and his work at Capitol Interactive has transported thousands of viewers to the depths of the ocean, faraway lands, and new worlds.  As organizer of the DCVR Meetup, Joey has worked to grow DC’s virtual reality community into an inclusive collective of nearly 2,000 designers, developers, and filmmakers. By empowering people everywhere to explore the world around them with a new lens, Joey hopes to start a conversation on how we can create a better reality for everyone.
Mr. Malik recently founded his own digital marketing consulting boutique in Los Angeles California. Faiq (Fike) partners with businesses to assist them in accelerating their growth exponentially through digital strategies such as YouTube, Google Search, and the Display Network. Prior to starting his own firm, Faiq was a digital strategist at Google Headquarters in California. One example of his work, Faiq was the lead strategist that produced a promotional video with Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Johnson which was broadcasted throughout the world during the Olympic Games in 2016. Prior to working in the world of digital marketing, Faiq worked in investment banking for firms such as Merrill Lynch, BlackRock and GE Capital.  Faiq is a graduate of The American University in Washington, D.C. and has a degree in Economics and Finance.
Information:  Mr. Basit is a registered patent attorney and is only an active member of the D.C., New York, and Patent bars.  The Law Firm of A.Q. Basit is located at 1300 I Street NW, Suite 400E, Washington, D.C. Mr. Basit received his JD from the University of New Hampshire School of Law, a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a MS in Electrical Engineering from George Mason University.  Mr. Kretschmann  is a German patent attorney whose office is located Pettenkoferstraße 22, 80336 Munich, Germany. Mr. Kretschmann was admitted as German patent attorney in 2010. He has been an admitted representative before the European Patent Office and before the EU Intellectual Property Office since 2011.  None of the other speakers are lawyers or members of a U.S. bar.
