Creative Tech Buildathon | Hack Week x Mana Tech

October 15 @ 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Creative Tech Buildathon: Converge

Cash prizes + tickets to III Points

A night for artists, designers, musicians, engineers, technologists, and curious creators to build at the intersection of software, hardware, art, music, and culture.

The premise is simple: build like your inner child. Follow the strange idea. Make the thing you wish existed. Don’t worry about whether it becomes a startup.

Come with an idea, find collaborators in the room, or just show up ready to experiment.

What to expect

We’ll kick off the night together, introduce the buildathon, get everyone oriented, and help people find teams and ideas.

From there, the room opens up for several hours of building — with programming happening throughout the evening for anyone who wants to jump in.

Expect:

🤖 Build with Devin
Cognition engineers will walk through how to use Devin as a collaborator while you build, from turning an idea into a prototype to having agents take on pieces of the work.

🔥 Fireside conversations
Short conversations with builders and creative technologists exploring what becomes possible as AI changes who can make software — and what “building” even means.

🛠 Open build time
The majority of the night is yours. Build solo or with a team, bounce between software and hardware, ask for help, test weird ideas, and make something real.

🎤 Demos + prizes
We’ll close with rapid-fire demos from the room and award cash prizes + III Points tickets to some of our favorite projects.

What can you build?

Almost anything.

Interactive installations. Instruments. Games. Interfaces. Performances. Robots. Physical objects. Visual experiments. AI characters. Weird internet tools. Things that don’t fit neatly into a category yet.

Use AI, code, hardware, APIs, sensors, creative software, or whatever else helps bring the idea to life.

You do not need to arrive with a fully formed idea or team.

Rough schedule

4:00 PM — Doors + kickoff
Meet everyone, hear the challenge, find collaborators, start forming ideas.

4:30 PM — Building begins
Teams get moving. Cognition engineers and other builders will be around throughout the night to help.

Throughout the evening — Devin sessions + fireside chats
Short programming breaks for anyone who wants inspiration, technical help, or a look at how other people are building.

8:30 PM — Final push
Get the thing working. Or at least working enough to show us what you were trying to do.

9:00 PM — Demos
Show the room what you made.

9:45 PM — Prizes + wrap

The goal isn’t polish.

It’s to leave having made something you probably wouldn’t have made anywhere else.
