​Speaker Bio:
​Rodrigo Lascurain is the US Principal for Union Bravo, TelevisaUnivision’s CVC, where he is responsible for the US portfolio. UnionBravo’s thesis is centered on partnering with high-growth companies with a strong presence in the US and/or Mexico and helping them reach the next level of growth by becoming a media strategic investor.
​Mr. Lascurain has over a decade of experience in the alternative assets investment industry, predominately venture and growth capital in the US and Mexico. He graduated as an Industrial Engineer from Universidad Iberoamericana but quickly entered the Financial sector. Enrolling in the CFA program and starting his career as a Derivatives Trader in Mexico City, where he was focused on structuring tailor made products for clients and creating trading algorithms.
​Years later, he moved to private equity and joined Evercore with a mandate of taking a minority position in industry agnostic but predominantly Mexican businesses. While there, Rodrigo mastered the practice of valuing private firms in multiple industries including fintech, energy, healthcare, within others, ending in 3 investments for the active funds. Additionally, he assisted with structuring the firm’s 4th fund and the divesting process of the first fund.
​Rodrigo, then went to pursue his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin with concentrations in Finance and Entrepreneurship. Mid-way he joined the up-and-coming cryptocurrency exchange Bitso as a summer associate and eventually stayed as a consultant for over a year. While there he co-led the creation of the institutional clients’ desk and developed the methodology to launch and manage a peso-based cryptocurrency index.
​After graduating he joined REEF Technology, helping them with a huge vision of establishing the leading proximity real estate network in the world. Starting as a Director in Corporate Strategy and being a key member in the firm’s $1b financing in 2020, to later being promoted to VP in Corporate Development where he was responsible to source and evaluate dozens of M&A opportunities across software, hospitality, logistics, and other sectors. Rodrigo led a +$20m acquisition of a SaaS startup in Tel-Aviv as well as a $160m strategic transaction with a top hospitality group to expand the company’s real estate network, among other transactions.
