Refresh Miami’s Signature Speaker Event: Karl Alomar, Managing Partner at M13, past COO Digital Ocean

Refresh Miami is excited for the official return of our Signature Speaker Events! For those that have been Refresh Miami members for many years, you’ll remember the incredible speakers we’ve had over the years including Alexis Ohanian, Jason Calacanis, Lenny Rachitsky, Amy Bohutinsky, Michael Seibel, Casey Winters and many more (check some of them out on our Youtube channel). We’re excited to welcome you back as well as invite newer members to experience a Refresh Miami Signature Speaker Event for the first time.

The purpose of our Signature Speaker Events are to educate, inspire, connect and grow the Miami Tech & Startup ecosystem while highlighting both local success stories and those building incredible companies around the world.

We’re delighted to kick off the year with a fireside chat between Karl Alomar, Managing Partner of M13 and former COO of Digital Ocean, and Saif Ishoof, founder of Lab22c.

About the Speaker

As DigitalOcean’s COO, Karl Alomar built the business from first product to >500 employees & $250M ARR over six years and prepared it for its eventual IPO (NYSE: DOCN). Having previously managed and exited two startups over a 20 year operating career, Karl is now M13’s Managing Partner and oversees its day-to-day operations.

About the Moderator

Saif Ishoof is the founder of Lab22c, serving as a thought partner to companies, founders, funders, and institutions that are looking to grow and scale their impact and reach in Miami’s innovation ecosystem.

Raised in Miami, Saif is an expert on how the forces of disruption are transforming how we learn, work, and play. Saif has been recognized with several prestigious distinctions including as a Presidential Leadership Scholar, a scholar of the German Marshall Fund, and as an Aspen Institute Fellow for Civil Society. Saif is a frequently sought-after advisor and board member to venture & private-equity backed companies. He is also a speaker and writer on subjects including innovation, talent, American competitiveness, the Future of Work, and Web 3.0.

Saif previously served as the Vice President for Engagement at Florida International University and as the founding Senior Advisor for Innovation & Technology to City of Miami Mayor, Francis Suarez.

Parking: There is no parking lot available at this venue, however there may be metered parking spots available on the surrounding streets.

Event Guidelines

Each attendee must be on the registration list in order to gain entry to the event. There will be no walk-in spots available for this event.

Aggressive behavior or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. Attendees exhibiting unacceptable behavior will be required to leave immediately.
