Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt to keynote at eMerge Americas, as Miami Tech Month rolls along

eMerge Americas announced today that Eric Schmidt, Google’s former CEO and Chairman, will be a keynote speaker at the 2023 global technology conference next week,  along with 7-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, who was previously announced.

On the main stage of the second day of the eMerge Americas conference this year, Schmidt, who ran Google from 2001 to 2011 and is co-founder of the philanthropic organization Schmidt Futures, will join Miami Mayor Francis Suarez for the mayor’s signature 305 Cafecito Chat IRL. They will talk about Miami’s growth as a new tech hub, how tech is disrupting education – and of course AI’s role in what comes next.

“We’re incredibly excited to have a world class innovator like former Google Chairman & CEO Eric Schmidt join us on the eMerge Americas Main Stage to discuss Miami’s emergence into a global tech hub, and how AI is positioned to both disrupt and enhance every aspect of our lives,” said Felice Gorordo, CEO of eMerge Americas. “This is one keynote you won’t want to miss!”

Other speakers include: Angle Bush, founder of Black Women In Artificial Intelligence; Paul Judge, managing partner of Panoramic Ventures; Katica Roy, CEO and founder of Pipeline; and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Phil Lord. Speakers who have already been announced can be found here. Many interactive experiences are also planned for the annual conference first launched in 2014, and themes attendees will see explored include AI, Web3, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship and investment with a  focus on diversity, equity and inclusion.

Of course, “the heart and soul” of eMerge’s work is the Startup Showcase. Throughout the year, eMerge selected 100 startups to exhibit for free at eMerge and participate in a six-week virtual mentorship program in the runup to eMerge. These 100 startups will participate in a shark tank style pitch competition that will end with five finalists pitching on the main stage for an opportunity to win a $420,000 investment for their company from Florida Funders, Panaramic Ventures and eMerge Americas.

Founded by Miami tech pioneer Manny Medina, eMerge Americas is a venture-backed platform focused on transforming Miami into the tech hub of the Americas. Last year’s conference attracted more than 20,000 attendees from 50 countries and over 4,000 participating organizations. eMerge also hosts year-round executive summits, startup pitch competitions, and masterclasses, and publishes venture capital insights reports.
