Miami leads the nation in tech job growth and migration, and we’re one of the top 10 cities for VC investment. Looking to take part in this dynamic tech ecosystem? As a first step, you might want to check out two free events this April from Venture Miami:
The Venture Miami Talent Summit
April 25th from 12-5pm
The Venture Miami Tech Hiring Fair
April 26th from 4-7pm
Both events will take place at the Idea Center on Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus and nearby Kyriakides Plaza. This will be the fourth tech hiring fair since Venture Miami held the first one in late 2021.
The Talent Summit is a new event this year to help participants prepare for their tech job searches. At the summit, jobseekers will be provided with 1:1 support, networking opportunities, workshops, professional headshots, and more. Experts from companies including LinkedIn and CodePath will advise participants on everything from resume and cover letter optimization to technical skill-building and interview preparation. The first 50 people to join will receive a free six-month subscription to LinkedIn Premium.
More than 60 companies will attend the Tech Hiring Fair, collectively offering upwards of 4,000 roles. Organizers suggest that jobseekers come prepared for on-site interviews and on-the-spot hiring. For that reason, the dress code is business professional.
Additionally, jobseekers can upload their resume and LinkedIn profile to the Venture Miami Talent Repository. This platform will help connect attendees with participating companies before, during, and after the event.
“We are thrilled to host these events to connect job seekers with opportunities in the growing technology industry,” Miami Mayor Francis Suarez said in a statement. “The Venture Miami Talent Summit and Hiring Fair are great opportunities for job seekers to gain valuable insights, network with industry professionals, and take their next step in their careers.”
One talk during the Talent Summit might also appeal to many Miami tech professionals who are not necessarily looking to immediately move jobs. Init is sponsoring a session from 4-5pm called “Pathways to Success in Miami Tech,” where native Miamians will share how they broke into our tech industry. “You’ll gain valuable tips and strategies for building your skills and experience, and learn how to position yourself for success in the Miami tech scene,” organizers shared.
Organizers have partnered with Uber to provide jobseekers with two $10 ride vouchers to get to and from the job fair, using voucher code VENTUREMIAMI22. Alternatively, free parking is available in the garage in Building 7 on N.E. Second Ave. between 5th and 6th Streets.
