If you love the Miami Tech scene, but live too far north from the heart of Miami to engage, there’s a solution for that, thanks to a South Florida entrepreneur’s love for all things tech and Broward.
For Julia Lucidi, the Hollywood-based founder/CEO of Founder Tactics, engaging with her community has always been her passion.
It’s why she launched her own community engagement company, Founder Tactics, after all.
“I wanted to find a way to connect entrepreneurs, mentors, and investors in Broward and West Palm,” Lucidi said. “That’s what Founder Tactics is all about.”
Born in Brazil, Lucidi immigrated to the United States with her family when she was only six months old. Wanting to go back to her roots, she landed a job with Endeavor Brasil, part of the global Endeavor network focused on entrepreneurship community building and nurturing scaleup companies in the region. For 15 years, Lucidi worked all over the world in both corporate and nonprofit roles to connect entrepreneurs and build communities.
In 2017, Lucidi moved back to the U.S., and came to Miami where she was connected with the Miami ecosystem through the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC). It was there where she developed CIC’s first educational curriculum for international founders, the Soft Landing Program, which helped international founders enter the U.S. market.
Her passion for entrepreneurship and community is what sparked her new journey as an entrepreneur, ultimately leading to Founder Tactics, a consulting agency that works to curate events and content to spark innovation and help new communities grow.
“My work throughout my career has really helped me understand what community is all about,” Lucidi said. “It really showed me how to bring more success to everyone.”
After meeting different professionals through her agency, and at Miami Tech meetups, she noticed a need for that same tech and entrepreneurial community in Broward. It inspired her to want to bring more tech events and connectivity to an area that was buzzing with innovation, young professionals, and opportunity – and in January 2023, the Fort Lauderdale Tech Meetup was born.
“There’s so much incredible talent here in Broward – there’s investors, mentors who are experienced and eager to give back, and professionals from all industries who are crucial to the tech industry,” Lucidi said. “My objective was to leverage what our neighborhood has, and create an anchor event in Fort Lauderdale that was reliable and consistent.”
Since its initial launch 16 months ago, the Fort Lauderdale Tech Meetup held on the second Tuesday of every month, has gathered more than 2,000 attendees within its first 14 editions, landing sponsorships from companies like Dell Technologies, Delta Air Lines, Tesla, EisnerAmper, and other international companies.
And, on May 14, Founder Tactics launched its first special edition meetup that featured a Venture Capital Investor panel with Ocean Azul Capital, DeepWork Capital, Maker X and EisnerAmper. The event attracted more than 260 attendeess, and the esteemed panelists provided the audience of entrepreneurs and tech talent with advice on how to get their startup off the ground and running.
The best part? The investor panel event was requested by the Fort Lauderdale Tech Meetup community.
“There’s just been excitement, and an overwhelming amount of gratitude,” Lucidi said. “As the months went by, we’ve had incredible sponsorship and partnership opportunities – it’s been meaningful for the community, and it shows that there’s weight behind what’s being built.”
For the future, Lucidi says that Founder Tactics wants to keep learning what the Broward and West Palm tech communities need. She hopes to continue curating events and opportunities for more connectivity and growth in numbers and strength for Broward and West Palm.
“Being a solo founder can sometimes be a lonely journey, but if we can create spaces where we can work and learn alongside each other, we can create a tri-county synergy,” Lucidi said. “We’re working to ultimately grow South Florida’s tech community altogether, as a whole.”
