Miami Hack Week opens new hub for developers in Wynwood and we’ve got pictures

A quick LinkedIn search turned up over 1,000 open software engineering job positions in Miami alone, showing that there’s more demand than ever for local software engineering and developer talent. A place for developers to congregate and connect year round would surely allow new products and opportunities to develop.

Now there is such a space.

Ja’dan Johnson of Miami Hack Week recently opened Builders Collective, a 4,700 square foot space in the heart of Wynwood. Offering a fresh perspective on coworking and collaboration, this new space will serve as an intimate home base and social club for the Miami Hack Week community, local developers, founders, and creators.

“I’m thrilled to open this space up to the Miami Tech community. Builders Collective is the space we always wish we had since starting Miami Hack Week and now it’s finally happening,” said Johnson.

The new Builders Collective space is a natural addition to the Miami Hack Week experience which has become a cornerstone of the Miami Tech Community since it launched in 2021. The annual hackathon brings together thousands of developers, designers, engineers, and entrepreneurs to create new products in Miami. Miami Hack Week’s next program is set to coincide with the eMerge Americas conference in April 2024. Now, the Miami Hack Week community and other interested tech professionals have a place to call home year-round.

The Builders Collective Space

Builders Collective offers a casual atmosphere for developers and entrepreneurs to collaborate. It distinguishes itself as a “social club” rather than a traditional coworking space. They don’t have individual offices, dedicated desks, or conference rooms. Instead, the space has the ambience of a modern library, featuring long desks, comfortable couches, LoFi music, a coffee bar, and even a happy hour bar that opens up on Friday afternoons.

A Builders Collective “Pioneer” membership is priced at $150 per month and offers daily coworking access from 8 am to 11 pm, along with access to member events, monthly workshops, and partner perks. Once you join, you’ll have the opportunity to become part of a “Circle,” a small group of like-minded members. The Builders Collective team said Circles help their members get to know each other better and build deeper relationships.

Builders Collective is located at 215 NW 24th St, Miami, FL 33127 on the ground floor of the Annex Building. The new space is right in the heart of Wynwood, so there are plenty of restaurants, shops, and just about anything you need within walking distance. The defining feature of the space is a 20-foot high digital display, ideal for presentation, workshops, and large events.

Recently, Venture Miami and the Shrimp Society hosted the Built in Miami Demo Day at Builders Collective. The room was packed with 200 founders, investors, and developers as new startups showcased their technology and pitched for fundraising. The Chain Miami has also been hosting their intimate Web3 Dinners at the new space.

Builders Collective also announced they will be hosting weekly Hack Nights where tinkering developers and builders can work on their projects on a “nights and weekends” schedule.

Johnson, founder of Miami Hack Week, said that Builders Collective is excited to host the Miami Tech Community for a range of events. The main space at Builders Collect  and its adjacent rooftop are available for event rentals. The space can accommodate a few hundred people or something more intimate like a lunch and learn event.

Builders Collective welcomes anyone to drop by for a tour and to learn about their offerings during open hours from Monday through Friday.
