ModMed acquires agentic AI platform

ModMed, a leading provider of software and services to specialty medical practices, has acquired Bonsai Health, a high-growth agentic AI patient engagement platform, on its way to  creating an AI-powered practice, the Boca Raton-based company said. Through this acquisition, ModMed plans to build on Bonsai Health’s market fit and accelerate Bonsai’s growth to serve ModMed’s nearly 50,000 providers across multiple specialties, including dermatology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, gastroenterology, ENT, and more.

“Bonsai was built on a simple but powerful mission: to ensure the right care happens at the right time. Their agentic AI platform and approach to patient reactivation are a perfect fit for our vision of the AI-Powered Practice. By bringing together the top-tier talent and solutions from both organizations, we’re creating an innovation powerhouse dedicated to delivering more value to the practices we serve,” ModMed co-founder and co-CEO Dan Cane.

Bonsai Health automates front-office workflows. Utilizing an advanced agentic AI engine, the platform is designed to automatically identify care gaps in a patient’s history as well as openings in a provider’s schedule. It then leverages multi-channel SMS and email to seamlessly handle patient reactivation and self-scheduling without requiring manual staff intervention. These capabilities complement ModMed’s existing patient engagement suite powered by Klara. While Klara serves as a centralized communication hub helping staff manage conversational workflows and patient outreach, Bonsai adds a specialized, proactive AI layer focused on improving patient outcomes, reducing staff workload, and filling gaps in the practice schedule automatically.

OutRival launches insurance vertical

OutRival, an artificial intelligence company building AI voice agents and digital workers for enterprise operations, has launched its insurance vertical. The Miami-based company is deploying its AI platform across carriers not just to automate operations, but to all them to build and own a distinctive brand voice across every policyholder interaction.

The insurance industry processes millions of policyholder interactions annually, the majority of which are still handled by human agents. OutRival is live with insurance customers across publicly traded and privately held organizations, deploying AI across multiple use cases throughout the policy lifecycle. The company is in active conversations with carriers, MGAs, and TPAs across the mid-market.

“The carriers that win the next decade won’t be the ones with the best data.
