At some point, most of us have woken up at 3:17 a.m. too warm, heart racing, mind spinning, and thought: if only I had seen this coming.
Eight Sleep is betting that soon, you will.
The sleep tech company announced today that it has reached a $1.5 billion valuation following a fresh $50 million strategic round led by Tether Investments. The raise brings the company’s total funding to more than $250 million to date. With these funds, the company says it plans to build a system that predicts how your night will go before your head even hits the pillow.
For years, Eight Sleep has been known for its Pod, a temperature-regulating mattress cover that tracks sleep stages, heart rate, and heart rate variability, then adjusts in real time to improve rest. That system, until now, has been reactive, reading signals during the night and responding on the fly.
Now the company wants to move upstream.
Eight Sleep says it is developing a predictive AI agent that simulates thousands of scenarios such as a late workout, a heavy meal, a stressful day, or a warm bedroom and adjusts the sleep environment before disruption occurs.
“Sleep was just the beginning,” Matteo Franceschetti, co-founder and CEO of Eight Sleep, said in a statement. “We’ve built the most advanced AI-powered health sensing system in the world – one that learns your body better every night and acts on that knowledge. This investment gives us the resources to take that intelligence beyond the bedroom and into every dimension of personal health.”
“What we’re building doesn’t exist yet – a system that understands your body better each night and acts on that knowledge,” Franceschetti continued. “Our goal is to build the defining health technology company of this generation.”
That ambition rests on data. According to the company, its models are trained on more than one billion hours of real-world sleep data collected from users in over 35 countries.
In early pilots, the company says nearly half of participants changed their behavior based on automated insights delivered during the day. In other words, the bed is starting to coach you long before bedtime.
The company’s recent year gives context to the push. In 2025, Eight Sleep achieved free cash flow positivity, launched three new products, and expanded to 34 countries. It also published two peer-reviewed studies showing that the Pod reduced menopausal hot flashes by 56% and restored the body’s natural circadian temperature rhythm during sleep, improving cardiovascular recovery markers.
But the bigger leap may be regulatory. Eight Sleep is advancing clinical and regulatory work in the United States, including FDA filings for sleep apnea detection and mitigation. If cleared, the Pod would move from a wellness product into the realm of regulated health technology, capable of screening and intervening at scale.
Tether’s CEO, Paolo Ardoino, framed the investment in broader terms.
“We believe advanced personalized AI is the perfect pathway to understand and expand human potential,” Ardoino commented. “Eight Sleep has the potential to define the future of health tech by building intelligence that learns, scales, and evolves directly with humankind, turning advanced AI into practical, everyday insights and enhancements about core human biology.”
Ardoino added: “By helping people better understand sleep, recovery, and long-term health, Eight Sleep is laying the groundwork for a new standard in longevity-focused technology that is truly personalized, can function in any condition, directly on-device, resilient, and aligned with how people live. The age of human-first health intelligence has started.”
There is something quietly radical in that vision. The bedroom has long been one of the last analog spaces in modern life: a mattress, a lamp, a phone on the nightstand. Eight Sleep imagines it as a health platform, one that senses, predicts, and adjusts every night without you lifting a finger.
