The two-day event will include robot competitions, hands-on activities, a visit to a galaxy far, far away – and much more.
If Miami Tech Week’s schedule has you going nonstop, make a plan to go on a fun weekend adventure with your family or friends into the heart of the Maker Movement.
For 13 years, the family-friendly Maker Faire Miami has brought together thousands of engineers, artists, inventors, creators, tinkerers, and families. From robots to drones, art to design, and aerospace to AI, this year’s Maker Faire Miami features over 250 makers and exhibitors, according to the organizers and hosts, Tom Pupo of Moonlighter FabLab and Mario Cruz of Mario the Maker. Expect live performances, competitions, hands-on activities, and headliner creators from acrzoss the country. This year’s Faire will be April 25-26 at the massive Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo Center. It’s all inside this year, so no need to worry about rain.
“Maker Faire Miami is a powerful expression of what a community can create together. It comes to life through the passion of more than 250 makers and hundreds of dedicated volunteers who give their time, talent and creativity to make the impossible happen,” says Pupo. “It celebrates a thriving movement, locally and nationally, where DIY spirit meets cutting-edge technology; where artisanal craft, art, and engineering converge.”
Featured makers include:
- Christina Ernst: She is an engineer, educator, and creator of She Builds Robots. She is also a nationally recognized robotics advocate whose mission is to inspire more girls to pursue careers in engineering and technology. Ernst will be showcasing approachable robotics builds and sharing how anyone can start building in tech.
- Alessandro Placitelli: Known for his creative electronics, mechanical builds, and inventive prototyping, he combines engineering and interactivity to create projects that inspire curiosity and experimentation.
- Mateo Jarquin: This young innovator and content creator behind MateoTechLab will showcases inventive robotics, electronics, and DIY engineering projects.
Two new experiences will be at the Faire, Pupo says.
In one of them, Faire goers can experience the 501st Legion Star Wars Village, featuring Lucasfilm-recognized cosplayers in movie-accurate costumes from the Star Wars universe.

In the second experience, attendees can watch full-contact armored combat as the Armored Knights clash in real steel armor using swords, axes, and medieval weapons. It’s intense, loud, and unlike anything else at Maker Faire, the organizers said.

Want more? Another experience, Every Flavor of Robot, aims to bring imaginative robotic creations that blend engineering with entertainment. Combat Robot Competitions will be ongoing all weekend as builders from across the region battle it out. Faire goers can also expect to see kinetic sculptures and interactive art installations, student innovation showcases, and plenty of engineering prototypes and inventions.
“Maker Faire Miami is a place where ideas become reality, curiosity is contagious, and people of all ages come to build, learn, and be inspired,” Pupo says. “There is simply nothing else like it, and we invite everyone to come and experience it for themselves.”
