Odyssey Wellness, a Fort Lauderdale-based maker of a sparkling energy drink infused with functional mushrooms, announced today it has raised $6.3 million in Series A funding.
The investors were not disclosed. In total the company has raised $8.3 million, including $1.3 million last May.
Founded in 2020, Odyssey Wellness is the manufacturer of Odyssey Elixir, a mushroom-based functional energy beverage line infused with adaptogenic and nootropic fruiting body extracts from Lion’s Mane and Cordyceps. The company says the mushrooms also contain beneficial Beta glucans known to support digestion, heart health and immunity.
The startup company says it is first to market with this type of energy drink with caffeine derived from natural green tea, and no added sugar, preservatives, artificial flavors or sweeteners – or caffeine crash. “We believe Odyssey is just beginning to seize the opportunity in front of us as a differentiator in the category that will propel our growth,” said Scott Frohman, founder and CEO of Odyssey.
Since its market debut last year, Odyssey Elixir is now available at over 5,000 brick and mortar locations, including natural and conventional retailers, convenience stores, bars, restaurants and hotels, the company said.
Odyssey Wellness plans to use the funds to accelerate its growth across all distribution channels.
