We will be monitoring the online Chat room for your questions. \nAt the end of the session\, you will\, \n– Gain a clear understanding of what data analytics is and its fundamental principles.\n– Appreciate the importance of data analytics in the business world and how it contributes to decision-making and competitiveness.\n– Be able to differentiate data analytics from other related fields such as data science and data engineering\, recognizing the unique role it plays.\n– Have a roadmap on how to initiate their learning journey in data analytics\, including awareness of available resources and tools. \nAbout our Guest Speaker: \nProfessor Jobany Rico joined MDC as a faculty member in January 2020. He serves as a Data Analytics Instructor for The School of Engineering and Technology at Kendall Campus\, where he teaches several data analytics courses\, including “R for Statistics\,” “Machine Learning for Data Analytics I and II\,” and “Data Analytics Capstone.” \nPrior to his role at MDC\, Professor Rico gained teaching experience at other higher education institutions\, including the Business School at Florida International University (2017-2019) and the School of Industrial Engineering at The Technological University of Havana\, Cuba (2008-2012). \nProfessor Rico earned his master’s degree in Statistics in 2016 and completed his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems in 2021\, both at Florida International University \nDirections: \nBIT Center of MDC Kendall Campus\nThe Business Innovation & Technology (BIT) Center of Miami Dade College\, Kendall\n11011 SW 104th St\nRoom R447 (Building R\, 4th floor)\, Miami\, FL 33176 \nThe Kendall Campus BIT Center is located in room R447 on the 4th floor of building R. Professor Pena Perez is well-regarded for his unwavering dedication to assisting students with their research endeavors\, internships\, and certification pursuits at MDC. \nHe holds a BS degree in Physics with a Math Track from Florida International University. Building on this base\, he pursued an MBA degree from St. Thomas University. His academic journey then veered towards quantitative expertise with an MS degree in Economics/Finance Track from Florida Atlantic University\, followed by a specialized focus on data analytics via an MS in Big Data Analytics from St. Thomas University.
