Who needs sleep when we’re celebrating tech and art? Here’s 10 #TechBasel events to check out

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – #TechBaselWeek is finally here! Experience the convergence of technology and art from December 3 – 10 right here in South Florida – from technology industry events, to startup demo days, networking opportunities, a hackathon and unique art exhibitions. Mark your calendars for a variety of #TechBaselWeek events happening all week long, all across the city, in conjunction with Art Week featuring Art Basel and other prestigious art shows.

December 2: Build Day X in Miami

Starting at 2 p.m. on December 2
Location:
BrainStation (2650 Northwest 5th Avenue, Miami, FL 33127)Hackers, get ready! ACT House, a team discovery platform helping innovators match with founders, has partnered with Tech Equity Collective, a Google initiative that accelerates access and advancement in tech for minorities, to host Build Day X in Miami, a 24-hour hackathon focused on the use of artificial intelligence in product discovery, design, and development. Teams will have the opportunity to pitch their products to win cash prizes; first place winners will receive $10,000, second place winners will receive $5,000, and third place winners will receive $2,500. December 4: Techstars Miami Demo Day Celebration

6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Location: Registration required for addressTechstars Miami, powered by J.P. Morgan, focuses on accelerating founders’ efforts in finding the right products, fundraising, and recruiting. On December 4, Techstars Miami is celebrating their third class of 12 companies with Demo Day, and all 12 companies are taking the stage to pitch what they’ve been building to potential investors and the #MiamiTech community. December 4: “This Life: Black Life in the Time of Now”

The Urban, 1000 NW 2nd Ave., Miami

The Miami Museum of Contemporary Art of the African Diaspora (Miami MoCAAD) celebrates the premiere of its groundbreaking documentary and digital exhibition “This Life: Black Life in the Time of Now.”  Through augmented and virtual reality experiences, delve into the intricate tapestry of contemporary Black existence; the experience will include personal narratives of four visual artists. December 5: Art + Tech Summit

1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

The Art + Tech Summit is bringing together top creators, collectors, and industry leaders in art, media, and tech. Guests can expect to hear from speakers like Will Weinraub, founder of CryptoToys; Sallie Jian, head of Diageo Ventures North America; Luke Ness of Pudgy Penguins, and others. December 6: eMerge Americas and Florida Funders Tech Basel Summit
eMerge Americas and venture capital firm Florida Funders is hosting an invitation-only networking event in Miami. Speakers include investors Tim Draper and Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and SXSW’s Hugh Forrest, among others. December 6: Miami Tech Together with Microsoft

The Miami Tech Together event with Microsoft intersects technology, art, and philanthropy. Through this event, Microsoft will highlight the tools and resources available for nonprofit organizations to create new art programs using technology. The event will include the Microsoft Resources Station, a hands-on workshop for guests to use and experience Microsoft’s tools and programs; the Tech Together Networking Station, an interactive networking wall where guests can pull an envelope, find a question, and spark meaningful conversations; the ‘Yeah Art’ Installation; and “The Future of Digital Philanthropy: Blending Tech, Art, and Altruism” panel discussion. December 6: The Miami Tech Happy Hour

Freehold, Wynwood

Join this special edition of the weekly happy hour with complimentary cocktails, pizza, and artful conversation featuring Animus, a collective of visionary artists redefining the intersection of art and technology. This exclusive activation will showcase the pinnacle of community building within the web3 and NFT spaces, the organizers say.

December 6 – 10: Code/Art’s The Student Digital Art Exhibit at Context Art Miami
Code/Art’s Student Digital Art Exhibit is a culmination of students’ work over several months in the CodeYourSelf™ competition. The pieces on display highlight their use of computer programming to create art. Exhibiting hours are from Wednesday-Saturday, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information, visit the Context Art Miami website here.

December 7-8: Digital Art Collectors Preview
