What is Conversational UX w/ Dr.Carmen Martinez and Ironhack

Conversational interfaces are integrated into many modern smartphones and standalone appliances for the home. As this technology has become increasingly mainstream, it has driven a growing interest in the subject of conversation design and given birth to the new discipline of Conversational UX (CUX). But what exactly is this new field all about and how is it connected with traditional UX design? What is the job of a CUX designer? What knowledge is required to design a successful conversation with a machine? How can conversations with other natural interfaces be integrated within the general framework of multimodality? And the most important question: What is conversation?

About the Speaker

Dr. Carmen Martínez is a Conversation Analyst and Ethnographer of Communication working in Conversational Artificial Intelligence at FlixBus. As an expert in human-to-human conversation, she contributes to the cross-disciplinary team she works in by automating customer service interactions, modeling both text- and voice-based human-to-machine conversations, and developing visual solutions for graphical and multi-modal conversational agents. She holds a PhD in Conversation Analysis being her field of specialization conversational topic change practices in Peninsular Spanish.
