An Intro to Data Analytics in Business

At the end of the session, you will,

– Gain a clear understanding of what data analytics is and its fundamental principles.
– Appreciate the importance of data analytics in the business world and how it contributes to decision-making and competitiveness.
– Be able to differentiate data analytics from other related fields such as data science and data engineering, recognizing the unique role it plays.
– Have a roadmap on how to initiate their learning journey in data analytics, including awareness of available resources and tools.

About our Guest Speaker:

Professor Jobany Rico joined MDC as a faculty member in January 2020. He serves as a Data Analytics Instructor for The School of Engineering and Technology at Kendall Campus, where he teaches several data analytics courses, including “R for Statistics,” “Machine Learning for Data Analytics I and II,” and “Data Analytics Capstone.”

Prior to his role at MDC, Professor Rico gained teaching experience at other higher education institutions, including the Business School at Florida International University (2017-2019) and the School of Industrial Engineering at The Technological University of Havana, Cuba (2008-2012).

Professor Rico earned his master’s degree in Statistics in 2016 and completed his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems in 2021, both at Florida International University
