Argentina’s Botmaker chooses Miami as hub for US expansion plans

By Riley Kaminer

With clients from 65 countries, including household names such as Procter & Gamble, Ford, and Domino’s Pizza, Botmaker is majorly on the move. Founded in 2016 in Argentina, the 200+ person company develops artificial intelligence-powered solutions for chat commerce, customer service, and help desk operations.

Now, Botmaker is expanding to the U.S. market and is planting a flag in Miami, making the Magic City its American hub.

At the helm of Botmaker’s operations stateside is longtime Miamian Christian Martinez. Martinez’s journey to Botmaker began in media and technology. He spent nearly 14 years at Univision, focusing on integrating network television with digital platforms.

Martinez then transitioned to Facebook, where he built a multicultural sales division and later became the country director for Mexico. His experience also includes a stint at Compass, a tech-driven real estate company, where he served as the regional president for the Southeast.

Choosing Miami as the base for US operations was a strategic decision for Botmaker. As Martinez told Refresh Miami, “Miami is the gateway to Latin America, and it allows us to keep our roots in Latin America close while opening up the North American market. Plus, Miami is home for me, which makes it even more fitting.”

Botmaker’s core focus is on conversational platforms powered by generative AI. The platform integrates with multiple chat platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram Messenger, Apple Business Chat, Google Business Messages, SMS, and web chat. It also supports voice chatbots for telephony. Botmaker partners with OpenAI and Google to incorporate advanced AI and machine learning capabilities.

The startup serves a wide range of clients, from large enterprises to small startups. Botmaker’s self-serve platform allows any business to open an account and start using its services. Botmaker focuses on three main areas: conversational commerce, customer service automation, and enterprise solutions. These pillars cater to businesses of all sizes, helping them automate and streamline their operations.

Martinez underscored that while AI is a hot topic now, Botmaker has been at the forefront since its inception. The use of AI in business messaging has transformed customer service and sales processes, particularly in regions such as Latin America, where WhatsApp is prevalent. This technology is now making its way stateside, driven by growing awareness and adoption of AI.

In Miami, the company currently has four employees, with plans for rapid expansion. Martinez signaled that the focus will be on hiring salespeople, marketers, conversational designers, and account managers to support the company’s growing client base.

Looking ahead, Martinez expressed his excitement about leading Botmaker’s expansion in the US from Miami. “Being from Miami and seeing the tech community here evolve over the years has been incredible. Leading Botmaker’s growth here is a rewarding opportunity, and I look forward to contributing to the tech ecosystem in South Florida.”
