The Underline, Inter&Co partner to bring bikeshare and more
The Underline, Miami’s 10-mile linear park and urban multi-modal, green corridor connecting Miami’s neighborhoods, has partnered with Inter&Co, a financial super app with over 35 million users across the Americas. Together, they will bring community programs, bikeshare, coffee shops and more to this trail.
“Inter&Co’s partnership with The Underline reflects a mutual vision of transforming Miami into a greener, more connected city,” said Meg Daly, Founder of Friends of The Underline. “By turning underutilized spaces into vibrant community hubs, we’re able to deliver on what the community has been asking for — safe, accessible spaces that celebrate culture, promote sustainable mobility and resilience and enhance quality of life,”” said Meg Daly, Founder of Friends of The Underline.
Inter&Co is introducing a bikeshare program featuring more than 100 bicycles with docking stations strategically placed along The Underline’s 10-miles, connecting Brickell to the Dadeland area.. The bikeshare program will integrate seamlessly with the Inter&Co super app, providing customers the ability to unlock and ride the bikes at no cost.
Aside from the bikeshare program, this partnership brings a series of unique Inter&Co Cafés – set in repurposed shipping containers – to energize the park’s vibrant spaces. The financial services company has 12 cafés located in Brazil and is now bringing that concept to Miami’s Underline. Beyond serving as trendy coffee spots, the Inter&Co Cafés will host community events from there.

For digital nomads, Miami clicks the boxes
If you had the option to work from anywhere in the world, where would you choose? If you are reading this post, we’d expect Miami must be high on your list. You might be interested to know CoworkingMag came up with a list of the best U.S. cities for digital nomads, and Miami came out No. 1.
The publication took into consideration metrics important to digital nomads, such as coworking space prices and density, cost of living, Walk Score, public WiFi availability, internet speed, and entertainment options.
Miami particularly excelled with the following metrics:
- The city boasts the highest coworking space density in the US, offering travelers and locals 2.50 coworking spaces per square mile;
- Miami also boasts the highest number of accommodations for travelers in the country, too. This means that digital nomads have 6.67 places to settle in for the night per square mile;
- Miami also stands out when it comes to entertainment as well, ranking 1st with 924.7 establishments per 100k residents.
- This next finding is a bit of a head-scratcher: The publication also found that Miami scored 7th in the nation for walkability, with a solid walk score of 76.6, and 5th for access to buses and trains, with 1.78 bus and rail stations per square mile.
Perhaps not surprising, the cost of living, including the cost of co-working space, is higher than in competing cities. Read more here.

Miami-Dade launches small business platform
Miami-Dade County’s small business community now has an all-in-one resource platform designed to help small business owners connect with essential resources, community partners and growth opportunities. The county recently launched an online portal called Strive305 HUB in partnership with Wells Fargo.
“We know that small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and we are committed to providing them with the resources they need to succeed,” said Miami-Dade Mayor Daniela Levine Cava at the launch event. “The Strive305 HUB is more than just a portal; it’s a comprehensive support system. By connecting entrepreneurs to invaluable resources, technical assistance, and mentorship, we’re investing in Miami-Dade’s future as a thriving, resilient economy.”
Strive305 HUB aims to make small business support more accessible and impactful by offering a wide array of tools including resource mapping, training modules, event promotion, and community engagement features. The online hub will assist entrepreneurs with developing their businesses and provide information on opening and registering a company, preparing for emergencies and business planning, and a virtual small business incubator will offer coaching and mentorship opportunities for business owners of all levels of experience. Technical assistance boot camps will also help users learn more about accessing capital, marketing and operating a business, the Miami Herald reported.

Nova, UM awarded $16M grant for coral restoration
Researchers at Nova Southeastern University, the University of Miami and nine partner institutions received a $16 million grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to develop novel ways to make coral reefs more resilient to climate change, the South Florida Business Journal reported. The reefs, found in tropical climates, provide a habitat for marine life, including sponges, crabs and many species of fish and can also help protect coastlines from storms and erosion.
“This grant will fuel the ongoing efforts of researchers at NSU’s Oceanographic Campus, where we manage onshore and offshore coral nurseries, rehabilitate and replant damaged corals, and spawn new corals for eventual transplantation,” said Holly Baumgartner, dean of NSU’s Halmos College of Arts and Sciences, in a statement.
The research project will focus on increasing heat tolerance in corals. That will include selective breeding of corals that survived the 2023 bleaching event, cross breeding endangered Florida corals with resilient species from outside of the state, and conditioning baby corals to warmer temperatures. NSU and UM are collaborating with the Mote Marine Laboratory, The Florida Aquarium, the Philip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, Smithsonian Marine Station, The Reef Institute, Reef Renewal USA, SECORE international, Biscayne National Park and AECOM to form a network that will share resources and best practices to help newly restored corals survive.
