Their inaugural 6-week program – The Art of Fundraising: Series A – will include insights from Bilbao, Velez, Claure and others. It’s being hosted by Bilbao and Miami-based investor and former Softbank operator Laura Gaviria Halaby – and it’s free.
The global fundraising landscape, especially in Latin America, has become increasingly challenging in 2024, with venture capitalists exercising greater caution deploying their capital and seeking more tangible results before committing to further investment rounds. The Fundraising School will aim to equip founders with resources to enhance their chances of success, including access to top global investors and entrepreneurs, mentorship, and a thriving community of innovative peers, shared Gaviria Halaby, who also is a Faktory AI founder, Kauffman Fellow, and founder of the SoftBank AI Academy and Operator School.
The Fundraising School is designed for entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs, she says. The curriculum for The Art of Fundraising: Series A will include a curated selection of live classes, hands-on masterclasses, and practical playbooks. With 16 speakers and 12 mentors from companies and investment firms including Habi, Kaszek, 500 Global, Lightspeed, Valor, 116z, Platzi, Softbank and Endeavor, this program includes a who’s who of the LatAm tech and VC world.
Topics will likely include building a customer-centric business model, effective networking strategies within the venture capital ecosystem, pursuing a vision of excellence, managing a startup board, mastering the art of storytelling, and legal frameworks for fundraising, among others. Founders can also receive feedback on their pitch and strategy.
