In a city known for slowing down in summer, Miami AI Hub proved otherwise. On July 30, more than 200 founders, investors, and technologists packed The LAB Miami for “Generative Gatherings,” an artificial intelligence-focused event hosted in collaboration with eMerge Americas. This marked the first public event under their newly announced partnership – Miami AI Hub was acquired by eMerge Americas – and was kicked off with a fireside chat between eMerge Americas CEO Melissa Medina and Burhan Sebin, founder of Miami AI Hub and now eMerge’s chief AI officer.
The two shared what led to their collaboration and what’s next for Miami’s AI ecosystem. Medina said eMerge surveys consistently ranked AI as a top topic of interest. That demand led eMerge to formalize its relationship with Sebin, who had advised the organization for two years and built a community of 4,000 members in the space. “We’re injecting Burhan’s AI knowledge to help our internal strategies and also expand our AI offerings to the community because we feel that AI is the next industrial revolution,” Medina said.
They also previewed several new initiatives. First up: the launch of the Miami AI School, a hybrid program designed to give founders, operators, and creatives training. Set to launch in early September, the school will run quarterly in three phases: AI essentials for business, an AI builder toolkit, and AI agent mastery. At the end of each phase, participants will present live demos and complete portfolio pieces and case studies. Applications are now open through Aug. 8.
Another highlight of what’s ahead is the Tech Basel Miami AI Summit. The summit will be a full-day, curated experience on Dec. 3 at the Mayfair Hotel in Coconut Grove. Designed for a handpicked group of founders, researchers, policy leaders, and investors, the summit will feature keynotes from top AI experts and hands-on workshops, all with the goal of diving deep into the future of AI.
Following the fireside chat, the evening shifted to live demos from two Miami-based startups. First up was Postbot, founded by Jean Douchet, which is building voice AI agents that can replace or augment traditional call centers for small businesses. Postbot’s agents handle real-time calls, answer questions, and book appointments, offering multilingual support and emotional awareness. “Just the idea that someone can call your business and an AI platform will always pick up, in any language, that’s going to become the norm. It’s inevitable,” Douchet said.
Next was Mainframe, presented by co-founders Lou Mata and Jordan Singer, who debuted Cobot, a productivity tool that assigns tasks to AI agents across apps like Google Sheets and Notion. Cobot turns to-do lists into automated workflows. “We believe the computers of the future will be built around actions. Instead of waiting for us to click and type, they will simply do it for us,” Mata said.
As part of their ongoing collaboration, Miami AI Hub and eMerge will continue hosting AI-focused events. As Medina noted, eMerge is more than a conference; it’s year-round programming.
